HONOLULU – Hawaii Coffee Company, the owner of Lion Coffee, today announced a multi-year agreement with Hawaiian Airlines to serve the award-winning Lion Coffee onboard its aircraft. Guests on Hawaiian’s international, U.S. Mainland, and neighbor island flights can enjoy fresh, locally roasted Lion Coffee starting tomorrow.
Lion Coffee developed the Exclusive Blend for Hawaiian Airlines to deliver the best cup of coffee brewed at high altitudes. Hot water boils at a lower temperature than on the ground, which is not enough to extract the optimal flavor characteristics for a rich cup of coffee. At the same time, lower humidity onboard reduces the palate sensitivity. Lion Coffee steps up to these challenges with the Hawaiian Airlines Exclusive Blend which uses select 100 percent Arabica coffee beans most optimal for this blend, roasted a darker French roast to bring out the rich aroma and bold flavors when brewed onboard. The taste profile of the Exclusive Blend is smooth, full-bodied and bright, with a clean finish.
“We consider many product attributes when looking for the best coffee to serve our guests, specifically the quality of the roast and the overall sensory experience,” said Renee Awana, managing director of product development at Hawaiian Airlines. “Lion Coffee, a trusted Hawaii brand, checked all of those boxes and is the perfect complement to our existing menu of island-inspired beverages and cuisine.”
“This partnership brings together two iconic local brands: Hawaii’s favorite local coffee and the islands’ own Hawaiian Airlines,” said Daniel Dinell, president of Hawaii Coffee Company that owns Lion Coffee. Lion Coffee is not only available in Hawaii, but on the U.S. mainland, Japan, Korea, and many other markets that Hawaiian Airlines serves. “Lion Coffee is the favorite local coffee of Hawaii residents, and the brand also has passionate followers in the Asian markets. Now local residents and visitors on Hawaiian Airlines can enjoy their beloved Lion Coffee onboard, and we are privileged to be part of the Hawaiian Airlines hospitality,” said Dinell.
